Portraiture

The past couple of weeks we have discussed portraiture. This involved learning about different styles, current artists works and their approaches, conventions and the correct equipment to have when taking one.

In our workshop we went out into small groups and practiced taking some headshots; of either one another or the public. We used a 30mm lens for this task and this was by far my favourite. The way it does not zoom and focuses nicely really appeals to me.

Below are some pictures I took in this practice session:-

This one is also another favourite as it would be classed as a portrait completely due to the composition and very nature of it. Once more, the subject look comfortable and not artificial.

This one is my favourite. This is due to the natural and relaxed subject and candid style of image, no signs of uncomfortableness or forced action; all of which can make or break an image. This is a portrait/head-shot size but may not be classed a one due to the subject being caught off guard.
